Event Description

Ahead of the Women in Business Committee’s event series Transforming Ourselves Together: A 2x4x4 Formula, we are excited to welcome British-Japanese Paralympian, public speaker, and model Mei Ichinose.
Please join us for a virtual fireside chat, moderated by Chris Wells, senior advisor at EY Japan’s Tokyo wavespace, to hear Ichinose share her experiences as a Paralympic swimmer and sustainability advocate. She will touch on how we as individuals can tackle diversity and inclusion in Japan and create a diverse and sustainable corporate culture.

About the Speaker
Mei Ichinose
Originally from Kyoto, Mei Ichinose started swimming competitively at age nine and has represented Japan since she was 13. Her dream came true when she made the 2016 Rio Paralympics team. In 2020, she was ranked No.1 in the world for the 200-meter individual medley (S9). She currently holds seven Japanese records, including for the 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter individual medley.

For Ichinose, swimming wasn’t just a sport, but a way to make her voice heard. Since her retirement in 2021, she has continued to share information on disabilities and advocate for sustainability, inspiring people across Japan and the world to live in ways that are good for themselves and the planet.
