The Power and Promise of the Blue Economy

60 60 people viewed this event.

If we define the Blue Economy as ocean, riverine, and lake-based industries operating in a sustainable and environmentally positive manner, then the future is bright indeed. Over the next decade, NOAA estimates that the global Blue Economy will double to USD $3 trillion. Ship building and advanced manufacturing, responsible resource extraction and consumption, aquaculture, pharmaceutical research, biomimetics, pollution control, waste management, and other industries offer an array of opportunities.

The need to grow and deepen innovation pipelines has been a top priority identified by the UN and the OECD. As a result, this Showcase fits into an ongoing series of events designed to connect U.S. and Swedish inventors, investors, entrepreneurs, established businesses, academics, and policy makers.
