<\/p>\nThe Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd annual Fall Dinner saw an increase in business attendance, which chamber executives hope will be a trend in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gives them an opportunity to network with our other members, board, and hear about what we can do to help them,\u201d Chamber President Paul Stecker said Thursday.<\/p>\n
More than 100 people gathered to eat, connect, and celebrate local businesses. They were also present to hear the keynote speaker, Wheeling Nailers Head Coach Derek Army. The Army stated that he understands his team’s constant mission to be involved with organizations in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor me, it’s supporting local businesses,\u201d Army said. \u201cI think that’s something the Wheeling Nailers take pride in over the years. I’m just trying to be a part of the team with that. It’s cool to be a part of it.”<\/p>\n
Unified Bank of Martins Ferry was also recognized for its community involvement. Stacy Carpino, a retail banking executive, stated that the bank’s success is dependent on the success of its employees.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just can’t be transactional,\u201d Carpino said. \u201cWe have to talk to our customers and be involved. If we know what’s going on, it helps us better serve our customers. We don’t do that by taking a deposit or withdrawal or cashing checks. We have to ask questions to help them better their lives.”<\/p>\n
The Martins Ferry Chamber is actively seeking new members, and events like this provide a mutual benefit in terms of networking.<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially in a small community like this, being able to network with other business owners, it just helps us work together, support each other, and help each other grow,\u201d Stecker said.<\/p>\n
The chamber’s executive director, Alicia Hill, stated that the dinner would not be possible without the support of their sponsors, and that they hope to see more businesses next year.<\/p>\n
