Companies should have women directors because of a government mandate, and the Chamber will train the women directors. Another area of emphasis will be on preparing students for employment after they complete their studies. In two months, he said, the Chamber will launch a program to connect industries and educational institutions to offer vocational training courses to students.<\/p>\n
Sundaram, one of the Chamber’s vice presidents, added that the Chamber holds regular meetings with officials involved in the Singanallur flyover, Mettupalayam road widening, Perianaikenpalayam flyover, Ganapathi flyover, Athupalam, and airport expansion.<\/p>\n
Another critical requirement for Coimbatore is the creation of a rail network that connects key areas of the city, such as Singanallur and Peelamedu. These railway stations need to be upgraded with adequate parking facilities. He claims that a circuit train facility will reduce traffic congestion on the roads.<\/p>\n
According to Rajesh B. Lund, one of the vice-presidents of the Chamber, it will start gathering details of civic issues from its members and represent them to the local body. \u201cWe all want a better Coimbatore to attract investments,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Vice-President C. Dorairaj added that the Chamber intends to hold periodic GST meetings for its members because amendments are introduced almost every month. It has also requested that a GST tribunal be established in Coimbatore.<\/p>\n
Annamalai, the Chamber’s secretary, added that a Taiwanese industry delegation will visit the Chamber next month to strengthen cooperation.<\/p>\n
