The Hicksville Water District (HWD) is pleased to announce that it has received the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce’s 2022 Community Achievement Award. This annual award, which was presented to the HWD at the Chamber’s annual holiday dinner on December 7, honors local individuals and organizations that make Hicksville a better place to live and work for all of its residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an honor to have been considered by the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce for this award, said HWD Chairman Nicholas Brigandi. \u201cEverything we do at the Hicksville Water District is for the betterment of our community. We take pride in working hard to serve our residents the top-quality water they deserve, and it is gratifying to be recognized for this work by an organization as distinguished as our local Chamber of Commerce.\u201d<\/p>\n
In 2022, the HWD launched a number of new projects. In May, the District dedicated its Plant 5 treatment facility, which is now outfitted with two Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) systems and four Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filters, representing the most advanced and effective water treatment technology available. The district now has eight operational wells, more than any other water provider on Long Island. Treatment installation work is also ongoing at the District’s Plant 8 site, which is expected to be operational in 2023.<\/p>\n
A large-scale water main replacement project in the HWD’s southeast portion also began in 2022. With water mains dating back to the 1950s, the district intends to completely overhaul its infrastructure in order to anticipate any future problems that the current distribution system in this area may present. The HWD has already completed two of the four phases of this project, and when the final phase is completed, residents will be able to enjoy 14,000 feet of new water main, 25 fire hydrants, and 320 water services from the district’s water main to the curb shut-off valve.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis award was granted because of all the improvements to the District, providing good, clean water to the community and making sure that everything is up-to-date with modern standards,\u201d said Hicksville Chamber of Commerce President Charlie Razenson. \u201cLooking upon the safety and purity of the water is paramount not only to the community as a whole, but especially to the children of the community and keeping them safe.\u201d<\/p>\n
