However, we would have liked to have seen more of a focus on Canada\u2019s current and pressing challenges, including supply chain disruptions, labour shortages and climate-related events across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReturning to normal and restoring business confidence will require the government to clearly outline its plan and priorities for economic growth and work with the business community to ensure predictability and transparency.<\/p>\n<p>Among the positive measures in the Throne Speech were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Committing to additional business supports.<\/strong>\u00a0They are be extended or added for industries that continue to struggle.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prioritizing child care.<\/strong>\u00a0This is an economic priority to restart our economy and for women\u2019s labour market participation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Concentrating on climate change.\u00a0<\/strong>The climate crisis is a growing threat to businesses, governments, and individuals around the world.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focusing on affordability and housing.<\/strong>\u00a0This is one of several factors contributing to our labour crisis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Investing in the empowerment of Black and racialized Canadians, and Indigenous Peoples.<\/strong>The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on businesses of all sizes across the province, but the effects have been even more overwhelming for those from equity seeking groups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moving faster on the path to reconciliation.\u00a0<\/strong>The business community also must do its part within the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcaanc-cirnac.gc.ca\/eng\/1524506030545\/1557513309443\"><em>Truth and Reconciliation Commission\u2019s recommendations on Business and Reconciliation<\/em><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe government also has other opportunities to support growth in the country. Effective policies do not always come with a price tag.
