Shortly before the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, with the İzmir Economic Congress convened between the dates 17 February-4 March 1923 provided for the establishment of the national industry rapidly. The idea that the industrialists of the Aegean Region to form unity under one roof in order to protect their professional interests also sprouted in parallel with the İzmir Economic Congress. One of the first issues addressed by the Republican administration was the chambers of commerce and industry. With the Law on Chambers of Commerce and Industry enacted on April 22, 1925, the chambers acquired their legal personality and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, established in 1885, was restructured.
