INDONESIAN NATIONAL SHIPOWNER ASSOCIATION This organization was established and grew into a unifying forum for business people in the shipping sector, from passengers, goods, oil and gas to off shore. In 1953, eight private national commercial shipping companies, namely PT. Perindo (Manado), PT. Pemal (Ambon), PT. P.P.S.S (Makasar), PT. Perpelin (Surabaya), PT. M.P.N (Jakarta), PT. Sang Saka (Jakarta), PT. Karimata (Pontianak), PT. Kalimantan (Banjarmasin) agreed to establish an organization called the Indonesian Shipping Company Unie or abbreviated as U.P.P.I.
