About Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is a non-profit organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the world. Originally established in 1958 to promote Japanese exports abroad, JETRO’s core focus in the 21st century has shifted towards helping small to medium size Japanese firms maximize their global export potential.

As a sub-Saharan region representative office, JETRO Johannesburg plays a fundamental role in promoting and facilitating the development of a mutually beneficial economic relationship between South Africa, sub-Saharan (12 countries), and Japan from 1961.
