ABOUT THE SCCK

The Korean Association of Public Administration (KAPA),

Founded in 1956, is indeed the most respected academic community in social sciences. KAPA is comprised of more than 2,000 members from various fields ranging from professors and researchers related to public administration to senior officials of central and local governments as well as of public institutions and non-profit organizations. Over the past 65 years, KAPA has provided macro-level directions and micro-level solutions to public administration for the Korean government through professional insights and practical participations of its members.

KAPA, as a premier research community, has constantly pursued intellectual thinking and activities. As a result, we are publishing the Korean Journal of Public Administration, which is one of the best journals awarded by the National Research Foundation of Korea, and International Review of Public Administration (IRPA, Scopus listed). Furthermore, KAPA actively builds global networks, facilitating academic dialogue and dissemination of relevant knowledge world-wide.

As in the past 65 years of history, we will continue promoting our mission and endeavors to meet the high expectations given to KAPA. Especially in 2022, with “Green, Digital, COVID-19: Rethinking Public Administration in an Era of the Great Transformation” being the main theme, we will unceasingly provide the intellectual momentum for the advancement of not only Korea’s administration but also Korean society as a whole.

In addition to the unprecedented, historical transformation of green, digital, and postcorona, Korea will also undergo the great transformation of government in 2022. Thus, KAPA will actively offer insights on the strategic vision and directions for the new administration. Also, through Lifetime Knowledge Creation and Transfer, we will strive for ‘accompanying generations’ and ‘accumulation of time’ among senior and junior scholars, who have all worked persistently to establish theories beyond those developed within the Western context in explaining phenomena specific to administration in the Korean context. Along with this, KAPA will develop collaborative governance with other disciplines in natural sciences and engineering through KAPA Impact Forum,

When Public Administration Meets Science and Technology, thereby expanding the field of public administration to one that can respond to policy demands, which are fundamentally different from those of the past.

I would like to kindly ask for your interest and active participation in KAPA as we maintain to be an intellectual community of presence and social impact.
