ABOUT THE MCC

The erstwhile Malabar District comprises of the present Palghat, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod Districts. Calicut was the head quarter of Malabar and are traditionally traders and exporters. The native businessmen felt the importance and the pressing need for their own association and the Malabar Chamber of Commerce was formed in the year 1929. Subsequently in 1931 it was incorporated under the Indian Companies Act 1913. It is gratifying to note that the Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry which comprised of mainly industries of Calicut was amalgamated with the Malabar Chamber of Commerce in the year 1985.
