TIRE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Tire Chamber of Commerce is the oldest chamber of commerce of the Aegean Region together with Izmir Chamber of Commerce as of its establishment (Gregorian 1884-Hijri 1301).

The Ottoman State, which entered a new period with the Tanzimat process, thought of controlling the functionality of the economy, especially with institutional structures such as the Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. For the first time since the last quarter of the XIX century, the two pillars of the economy have moved to a structural position. This structuring requirement was later identified and put into practice by the Republican State. More importantly, while only the formation of the Chamber of Commerce was foreseen during the Ottoman process, the Republic State felt the need to change the name of the institution to “Chamber of Industry and Commerce” and add the word “Industry” to the institutional structure.

As the “Chamber of Industry and Commerce”, the institution started to include commercial elements in the registry records starting from 1926. Persons, companies and cooperatives engaged in trade thus obtained an official identity. Our Chamber has expanded its functionality by following the commercial structure of the economy in many ways. Since the first years of the Republic, it has undertaken important tasks as a guide in urban structuring, needs and organizations.

Our chamber also has; It has brought the problems related to all kinds of needs of the city to the relevant authorities and produced solutions for its solution. With this function, it has been the pioneer of the production of merchants and businessmen in the city.

Today, our Chamber, which keeps records of more than 900 commercial elements, has been the locomotive of structural development in a sense.
