Hyundai Engineering will actively seek overseas orders in the second half of this year, according to Hong Hyun-sung, CEO of Hyundai Engineering, during a meeting with reporters on August 10 at the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry in central Seoul.
“The global investment environment has worsened, but if the Korean government comes up with necessary support measures for construction companies, we will be able to secure competitiveness and win orders in overseas markets,” Hong said. “We will put the focus on winning new projects.”
“In particular, the Asian and European markets are large, so we are planning to concentrate on such large markets,” Hong added.
Following a meeting with Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Won Hee-ryong and CEOs of Korea’s major construction companies operating in overseas markets, Hong spoke with reporters. Won promised to provide full support to the builders during the meeting.
“To win more orders, it is important for Korean overseas construction companies to actively explore the global market.” Won said. “The government will take the lead in resolving difficulties facing them and come up with necessary measures.”
Meanwhile, Hong was appointed CEO of Hyundai Engineering in March after serving as head of the Plant Business Division and vice president of Hyundai Engineering.
