The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will hold elections for the 21-member board on Tuesday. There are nine candidates competing for a single expat category seat out of a total of 122 candidates competing for membership on its board of directors and branches in the Sultanate of Oman across 11 governorates from 2022 to 2026.

It should be noted that the OCCI has opened the doors to foreign investors for the sole seat for the first time. The OCCI has issued a number of important directives for the voting day, which begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the chamber.

Voters must carry their ID cards, and photography is strictly prohibited inside the voting booths. The ID card must also be presented by voters at the OCCI headquarters at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Muscat, the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in the Governorate of Dhofar, the Chamber’s headquarters in the Wilayat of Khasab, the Chamber’s office in the Wilayat of Dibba in the Governorate of Musandam, and the Chamber’s headquarters in the Wilayat of Al Buraimi in the Governorate of Al Bura

Voters in the elections will also be welcomed at the Chamber’s headquarters in the Wilayat of Rustaq in the Governorate of Al Batinah South, the Chamber’s headquarters in the Wilayat of Sohar in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, the Chamber’s headquarters in the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, the Chamber’s headquarters in the Wilayat of Ibra in the Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah, and the

“Dear voter, to ensure the opportunity to actively participate in voting on election day, you must be careful to activate the electronic authentication feature in the ID card and do not let emotions affect your decision; vote honestly; and choose the qualified candidate to represent the private sector,” the OCCI says.

Meanwhile, the ROP has announced that due to the OCCI elections, the issuance of ID cards to citizens and resident cards to expats will be suspended on Tuesday.
