The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 21 at their new shared offices at 4065 S. Virginia St.
“The Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to work side-by-side with our RSCVA colleagues,” Chamber CEO Ann Silver said in a statement. “Together, we can promote our robust business community and showcase the vibrant arts and cultural organizations that attract visitors and provide quality life experiences for our residents.”
Both entitles officially moved into the new office space in December, but celebrations were put on hold due to the pandemic.
Talks between the two began last June to move into the shared office space. The chamber eventually entered into an eight-year lease to operate as a separate tenant in the building at at 4065 S. Virginia St.
It will reportedly enable the chamber — which moved out if its space on the top floor of the building at the corner of California Avenue and South Virginia Street in Midtown — to save roughly $500,000 in rent over that span.
“A greater partnership between the RSCVA and the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce allows the opportunity to utilize our resources within the community,” RSCVA President and CEO Charles Harris said in a statement. “Visitors and local business owners rely heavily on each other. Together we have the ability to enhance the visitor experience and the local economy, while also providing value for Chamber members.”
