Sharjah – The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has announced that all targets set for this year, 2022, have been met as planned and in accordance with key performance indicators (KPI) and operational plans.

Several objectives, including encouraging Sharjah’s sustainable economic development, meeting the needs of the business community, strengthening the emirate’s trade performance flexibility, and attracting direct investments, have been met with success.

According to the most recent statistics, the total number of registered memberships increased by 7% in 2022 to 59,882. Meanwhile, until the end of November this year, the number of certificates of origin totaled 66,795 and the value of exports exceeded AED 25 billion.

These statistics were revealed at the SCCI’s 3rd meeting of the 16th session of the Board of Directors, which was held at the chamber’s premises and presided over by HE Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, SCCI Chairman; HE Walid Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Deputy Chairman, SCCI; Board members; HE Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, SCCI Director-General; and assistants to the Director-General.

Several important issues were discussed during the meeting, and the chamber also approved its budget for 2023. The chamber also looked into ways to achieve its strategic goals and diversify its financial resources so that it could carry out its plans and projects across all economic sectors as planned.

The chamber also discussed mechanisms for improving the business environment and fostering the long-term performance of Sharjah’s private sector, as well as how to improve SCCI institutional performance through the implementation of training programs aimed at providing quality services to SCCI members and the business community as a whole.

The meeting discussed the previous year’s goals, which included promoting Sharjah’s position as a recognized regional investment hub, as well as meeting all KPIs set to meet the SCCI’s targets. The Board also reviewed the status of several projects and initiatives being implemented to improve the chamber’s services.

HE Abdallah Sultan Al Owais emphasized that the SCCI is moving forward in accordance with a clear roadmap designed to achieve the chamber’s goals and strategies, advance Sharjah’s economic development, and promote Sharjah’s leading position as a top business community destination worldwide.

According to Al Owais, the milestones reached in 2022 reflect the chamber’s vital and sustainable economic role in improving the emirate’s economic environment, developing business sectors, encouraging investments, revitalizing trade, expanding the network of connections with business communities, improving institutional performance, and investing in human resources.

HE Mohammed Amin Al Awadi, for his part, reviewed the chamber’s action plans for the support services sector, the communication and business sector, and other SCCI departments, offices, and divisions. He also discussed the impact that action plans have had on business performance development and the implementation of the SCCI’s strategic programs.

According to Al Awadi, the SCCI made quality achievements in 2022, ranging from improving service quality and excellence to upgrading the level of services provided to the business community and supporting institutional excellence.

A presentation on the chamber’s Sharjah Excellence Award 2022 progress was made during the meeting. The gathering also highlighted the SCCI’s efforts to promote the award and achieve its various goals, such as fostering a culture of institutional excellence and quality management and improving the level of performance of economic establishments.
