From December 5 to 9, the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai, in collaboration with the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCESL), hosted a 12-member business delegation from Sri Lanka in the UAE.

The business delegation included Sri Lankan companies representing the product and service sectors of Ceylon tea, spices, packaging, coconut-based products, IT solutions, food products, and rubber-based products.

During the visit, the Consulate General office organized a comprehensive program for the visiting delegation in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Business Council in Dubai, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On December 5, a briefing session on the UAE market was held at the Consulate General premises, attended by Consul General Nalinda Wijerathna, Secretary General Shiham Marikar, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Business Council (SLBC) in Dubai, Riza Mohammed, and board members of the SLBC.

In addition, the Consulate General, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Business Council, organized a number of B2B meetings in the UAE with targeted business ventures to facilitate networking between the two countries’ business communities.

On December 6, the visiting delegation attended a business forum and B2B meetings organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). The Sri Lankan delegation was welcomed by SCCI Director-General Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi and SCCI Assistant Director-General for Business and Communication Sector Abdulaziz Shattaf.

The Chairmen and Officials of RAK Chamber and Sharjah Chamber assured the Sri Lankan Consulate General Office and the Sri Lankan Government of their full cooperation and collaboration in future bilateral promotional activities, including a proposed Sri Lankan trade exhibition in Ras Al Khaimah.

The visit of the Sri Lankan delegation and the programs in the two emirates provided the visiting delegation with a platform to discuss potential collaborations in a variety of industries while also establishing avenues to explore new trade and investment opportunities to further promote trade between the two countries’ business communities.
