The Jefferson Co. Chamber of Commerce has completed its relocation to 44 Trifecta Place, Suite 202 in Charles Town. After spending the first few weeks unpacking and organizing, Heather McIntyre, Director of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, and her staff welcomed the community to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.
Because of the COVID pandemic, the staff was able to work from home and take their time finding the ideal location.
“This building was just a shell, so we were able to design and decorate it ourselves,” McIntyre said, adding that selections included paint color and flooring. “It was very difficult to function on Zoom for the past two and a half years. I’m so glad to be back to in-person events.”
The new location of the Jefferson Co. Chamber of Commerce
The new location is large enough for the chamber to host small gatherings like monthly membership meetings. Every year, the chamber hosts several monthly membership meetings, which provide excellent opportunities for members to network. Furthermore, the chamber collaborates with Blue Ridge Community and Technical College to host quarterly business seminars.
“We can also make the space available for our chamber members who may need to hold small event gatherings, as well,” McIntyre said, sharing that the current membership of the organization is just under 400.
“It is good to be back in person and have such a beautiful location for our chamber,” President Chris Puller said. “The size and functionality provide an opportunity for the chamber to serve its membership, as well as the community.”
Along with the small events that can now be scheduled within the new offices, the chamber also hosts several large banquets each year. Every year, the Chamber Celebration Banquet honors the citizen and business of the year.
The annual Public Service Recognition Banquet honors law enforcement, firefighters and other emergency medical service providers, as well as dispatchers. Evey year, a Right Hands Day celebration is held to allow members to recognize employees in their offices who support their efforts and go above and beyond to help the business.
Leadership Jefferson, which is also sponsored by the chamber, is a 10-month program that teaches individuals about Jefferson County’s assets, opportunities, and challenges. The annual Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival, held each September, brings artists and crafters to the county for a three-day event.
