On Friday afternoon, the Bonnyville & District Chamber of Commerce welcomed residents to their new home. The Chamber of Commerce has relocated from the Shaw House to 5014 50 Avenue on Main Street.
“The Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce is here for Bonnyville, we are here for the Lakeland, and that is so important. People know we’re here for them and what better way to do it then in the heart of Bonnyville where we can talk to our members, where we can have those conversations,” said Chamber executive director Serina Parsons.
“It has been a challenge as everybody knows with the move with packing, with getting the finishing touches, getting our furniture, all of it. But already we have been visible.”
The event included a ribbon cutting and speeches, as well as a tour of the facility. The two-story office has a free boardroom downstairs for non-profit members. The Chamber can now focus on its primary mission of economic development and advocacy for the region, now that the new location has been secured.
“Nobody aside probably from our mayor and council is as passionate about the economic development of our region as we are and so that’s why we’re here today,” said Parsons.
The grand opening coincides with a new “Shop Local” program the Chamber launched on Friday. Residents can order $100 Visa Gift Cards for $75 or get a $50 card for $40 to be used exclusively for local vendors.
