The Rocky River Chamber of Commerce hit another home run with the 2022 Business Expo. The Expo has been rescheduled for 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. According to Executive Director Angela Barth, planning for the 2020 Expo began in 2019; the Expo was in its 18th year at the time. Every year, people from all over Northeast Ohio attend.

The Expo was held this year on October 13 at the Umerley Civic Center in Rocky River. The center was filled with 82 exhibitors, and hundreds of visitors came to see what local businesses had to offer.

Ellen Gorski, chair of the Expo Committee noted, “There’s no better place to experience the power of face-to-face networking and for expanding one’s network.”

That had to be true, because business cards were flying back and forth at breakneck speed at every booth and table.

The businesses ranged from home improvement, banking, and food to education, cable TV, and assisted living. In fact, you can find almost any type of business you can think of in the Rocky River area.

Parking is a major consideration for a large event at that venue. Despite the fact that the center has a large parking lot, Barth made sure there was free offsite parking available at St. Thomas Lutheran Church just down the road, with a shuttle bus that ran continuously.

As a bonus, “All exhibitors and attendees who used the shuttle were entered into a raffle to win prizes,” Barth said.

It appears that business is thriving in Rocky River and the surrounding areas. We can probably expect a larger expo next year.
