The MOU was signed on October 27 at Cardiff’s City Hall during the Chamber’s international trade exhibition and dinner, an event that connects Welsh businesses with experts, resources, and support to enable them to trade confidently on the global stage.

The Jhelum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) represents the industrial and business community in Jhelum, a region in Pakistan’s Punjab province’s northwestern region. It is a member of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) (FPCCI).

JCCI, like the Chamber, is a business membership organization that supports a thriving SME sector and connects businesses with opportunities for growth through trade.

Sarfraz Malik, Chairman of the JCCI Executive Committee; Faheem Azhar, Ambassador and International Strategic Advisor at Chambers Wales South East, South West, and Mid; Paul Slevin, Executive Chair of Chambers Wales South East, South West, and Mid; and Shevaun Haviland, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce were all present at the MOU signing.

The MOU between the two chambers will benefit both Welsh and Pakistani businesses by strengthening trading ties between the two countries and providing opportunities to collaborate and share knowledge on areas of mutual interest such as development, research, and best practices.

According to Paul Slevin, Executive Chair of Chambers Wales, South East, South West, and Mid,

“We are pleased to have signed a memorandum of understanding with JCCI.” It was fitting that we could do so at our recent international trade exhibition and dinner, which celebrated the importance of international trade and access to new markets for supply chain solutions and collaborative working.

“This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with another chamber on areas of mutual interest while sharing resources and expertise.”
