The WestShore Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of events to help voters make informed decisions when they go to the polls for the municipal elections on Oct. 15.
The chamber will host an online all-candidates forum for Colwood voters on Sept. 27 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. The decision was made to hold the event online in order to allow as many people as possible to participate, with technical limitations allowing up to 500 people on the Zoom call.
The session is also being recorded and will be posted to the chamber’s YouTube channel so that voters can watch it whenever it is convenient for them before the election.
According to the chamber, both the Colwood mayoral candidates and eight of the ten councillor candidates have confirmed their attendance.
The forum will include opening statements, a selection of questions submitted in advance by Colwood voters, and closing statements. Attendees will be able to see the event, but it will not appear on the screen. There will be no questions from the floor at this event to ensure voters hear from all of the candidates consistently.
The Colwood forum will be accessible at us02web.zoom.us/j/84332248078.
The chamber will then hold a similar event for Langford voters on September 28 at 6:30 p.m. Both mayoral candidates and all 14 councillor candidates are expected to attend, according to the chamber.
The Langford forum will be available at us02web.zoom.us/j/85119090371.
The chamber’s final all-candidates forum will be held on September 29 at 6:30 p.m. and will focus on View Royal. Both the mayoral candidate and all seven councillor candidates will be present.
The View Royal forum will be available at us02web.zoom.us/j/86064064561.
