Chambers of commerce are a fundamental element of the economic and social articulation of a country.

The CCIAE positions itself as a modern and competitive Chamber of Commerce and Industry, adapted to the current needs of companies in Algeria and Spain and allowing the growth of trade between the two countries it represents.

The CCIAE is a non-profit professional organization made up of Algerian and Spanish business leaders established in Algeria and Spain. It was created in June 2011 and approved by the Ministry of the Interior on January 14, 2013 under number 02/2013.

The CCIAE is governed by a General Assembly, a President, a Secretary General and an Executive Committee composed of 17 members.

The executive functioning of the CCIAE is based on a salaried operational team responsible for implementing the action plan decided by the elective bodies.

THE PRESIDENT’S WELCOME

I wanted to play a major role in the CCIAE for having understood from its constitution that our two countries, in this case Spain and Algeria, have a strong common potential which can translate into prospects for more intense collaboration than what we currently consider and use.

The commercial relationship dates back several centuries in view of the geographical proximity, on the one hand, and the common history, on the other hand. It was a natural relationship, characterized by commercial exchanges, some small-scale industrial collaborations and also exchanges in the tourism and service sector. The big project that brought the two countries together in a very official way is that of Pedro Duran Farrell. This gas pipeline came into operation from November 1996 and has been supplying Algerian gas to Spain ever since. Another major gas project was completed and came into operation in 2011, the gas pipeline linking Ghazaouet to Almeria.

Today, these two countries count with each other, to the point where their trade reached a peak of 15 billion dollars in 2013. Spanish oil companies are long-term partners of Sonatrach and other companies Spanish companies have come to give impetus to the major infrastructure projects that Algeria initiated at the beginning of the century.

The CCIAE, was born in June 2011, counting since with all these Spanish companies present in Algeria and mixed companies created and other local companies wishing to collaborate with Spanish companies. Practically all sectors of activity are present in the CCIAE: oil, agro-industrial, transport, insurance, construction and public works, manufacturing industry and services aplenty, particularly in engineering, medical, tourism, etc. I remain fundamentally convinced that our two countries will work together and together develop economies that create added value and wealth, and value chains, thus involving a profusion of SMEs/SMIs in these collaboration prospects. Algeria has ramifications, promising and timely in the African market as Spain has and continues to have in Europe and South America; this collaboration will open our companies more internationally. Since then, within the CCIAE, we have forged business relations between member companies, thanks to the network we have set up, to which I invite Spanish and Algerian companies to come and join us to build a solid base, which will allow us to defend our interests with the official bodies of both countries.

“The exchange is essential! To discover what we weigh and what we can build with the other”.
