Giresun Chamber of Commerce and Industry started to play an important role in regional trade and became visible in 1926 with the request for permission to export hazelnuts to Romania. The export of hazelnuts, a key product of the regional economy, has made a significant impact on Giresun’s stance against globalization and the world market. The process started with this date and as a result of the introduction of Giresun Port in 1959, it continued with the export of agricultural and underground mines, especially hazelnuts. Today, turning its geographical position into an advantage, Giresun processes its own raw material in modern and technological industrial facilities thanks to the investments in the developing industry sector and exports it by road and sea connections.
