Japan Adhesive Industry Association

The Japan Adhesive Industry Association was established in June 1966. Based on the philosophy of contributing to the improvement of people’s lives with adhesives, we promote technology, consider the environment and safety, and promote internationalization. We have proceeded. Thanks to you, we have now become an industry organization with more than 120 member companies.
　Adhesives are usually not very noticeable, but they are actually active in every aspect of our lives. Many adhesive technologies have contributed to the background of recent technological innovations such as energy saving, weight reduction, thinning, and digitization, and the demand for them is expanding more and more.
Widespread use increases our social responsibility, and each adhesive manufacturer must not only supply safe and high-quality products, but also respond to stricter regulations on the environment and safety in Japan and overseas, and comply with compliance. More demanding than ever.
As an association of our industry, we would like to further deepen our cooperation with our stakeholders, contribute to the sound development of the adhesive industry, and contribute to the development of the global environment and human culture. We look forward to your continued support in the future.

Main business

1. 1. Conducting production surveys

   • We conduct surveys on the production of adhesives for our members every quarter and publish them.
   • Since 1999, the current Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has conducted a survey on the actual situation of adhesive production in the entire adhesive industry and has published the results.

2. 2. Promotion of standardization

   • We are promoting standardization, such as creating JIS drafts for adhesives, creating JAI standards (Japan Adhesive Industry Association standards), and displaying the JAI mark.

3. 3. Adhesive certification

   • Certified non-formaldehyde (F☆☆☆☆) adhesives.
   • Certification of 4VOC standard compliant products.
   • Certified as hard-to-break hot-melt adhesive for bookbinding.

4. Four. Promotion of technology

   • We will provide information on technology, etc.
   • We are researching and establishing adhesive methods.

5. Five. Environmental safety measures

   • We are considering and promoting various measures in response to safety, health and environmental issues related to adhesives.

   • Adhesive technology school, adhesive introductory course, etc. will be established to conduct educational activities related to adhesion.
