Chairman’s greeting

Surveying clarifies the actual conditions of national land and cities, which are places of various people’s activities, mainly from the aspect of the position of features, and manages and manages so that people can easily grasp the results and widely use them. It is a comprehensive technology for expression. It can be said that it is a technology that underpins people’s safe and comfortable lives and efficient and advanced economic activities. Its history goes hand in hand with the history of mankind, the history of civilization and technological innovation, and of course in recent years it has continued to evolve day by day while incorporating the latest aerospace technology, sensing technology, AI technology, etc.

The Surveying Society of Japan is an organization of surveying engineers founded in 1951 by volunteers from industry, government, and academia who strongly recognize the importance of surveying and wish to develop it. After becoming an incorporated association the year after its foundation, and transitioning to a public interest incorporated association in 2013, we have reached the present. During this time, various activities were held for the purpose of exchange among members, introduction and dissemination of new surveying techniques, continuing education of surveying engineers, training of surveying specialists, ensuring the quality of survey results, and improving the social status of surveying engineers. We have been working diligently to carry out these activities.

Specifically, 1) publication of the monthly survey, 2) publication of survey-related books, 3) holding of various workshops and technical seminars, 4) surveying and geospatial information innovation competition, G-spatial EXPO, and geospatial information forum. (5) Publication of Applied Survey Papers (6) Operation of survey CPD system (7) Operation of qualification system for spatial information general management engineers and geospatial information specialist engineers (8) Examination of survey equipment and results, etc. activity.

Through these activities, and above all, thanks to the warm understanding and support of our members and related parties over many years, the Japan Surveying Society currently has more than 10,000 regular members and about 2,200 special members (supporting companies). ), it has developed into one of the nation’s leading technical associations. In 2011, we were designated as a cooperative academic research group by the Science Council of Japan, and we continue to grow as an academic research group that represents the field of surveying.

Japan is currently faced with severe realities such as worsening financial pressure, declining birthrate, aging population and declining population. On top of that, how to improve people’s lives and achieve sustainable economic growth is a major issue.

With pride and a sense of mission that the surveying community underpins people’s lives and the economy, we strive to further improve the efficiency and rationalization of our business. I have to contribute. From this point of view, the Japan Surveying Association will further enhance its current activities, reorganize and strengthen its activities as necessary, and contribute to the development of the surveying community, the country, and society as a public interest incorporated association. We will work together to push forward.
