Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 1923 in order to revive the trade life and systematically develop and maintain this process with the decisions of the Development Plans taken during the Republican period. It is known that after the proclamation of the Republic, in 1926, as required by a regulation (25 March 1926), room elections were started and continued to the present day. The first elected President of our Chamber is Kasım KURŞUNOĞLU. In the following years, Haşim PEKİNSEL, Bayram ERENGÜÇ, Hamza KARABAĞLI, Şemistan KOÇULU, Saffet TİRYAKİ, Kamber GÜZELDEREN, Suca BULUTOĞLU, Mehmet YILMAZ and Ali GÜVENSOY were the chairmen. Fahri ÖTEGEN has been elected as the President in the elections held in 2013 and he is currently the President. The information about the Presidency of the Chamber could not be reached before 1975. İsmail TOMBUL was the President of the Assembly from 1975 to 1987. In the following year, Dinçer BUKNİ served as the Chairman of the Assembly from 1987 to 1995 and Ali ZAMAN until 1995. İdris ACAY has been elected as the President of the Assembly in the elections held in 2013 and he still holds this position.
