The Telecommunications Carriers Association was established in 1987 with the aim of contributing to the sound growth of the telecommunications industry and to improved convenience for the public by addressing common issues faced by telecommunications carriers.

Amid the ongoing severe economic conditions and restrictions on socioeconomic activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the digital transformation (DX) that has been brought about through digital infrastructure development and digital technology utilization will play a major role in simultaneously overcoming the pandemic and achieving economic recovery. DX will help industries improve efficiency and increase added value, while further promoting activities based on digitalization and remotization; this will lead to transformation and the creation of new value at all levels of individuals, industries, and society. DX will also play an important role in the development of digital infrastructure, such as 5G, and the implementation and utilization of digital services in various fields, in promoting the “Vision for a Digital Garden City Nation”, which the Japanese government has identified as one of the most important pillars of its growth strategy in a “New Form of Capitalism.”

Given this, I believe that we are charged with the great responsibility of fulfilling our social responsibility, as a general incorporated association whose members are telecommunications carriers at the very heart of DX. We will continue strengthening initiatives to contribute to the sound development of telecommunications businesses, such as ensuring the safety and reliability of information and communication networks to serve as infrastructure in the DX era, as well as to support consumers and to serve society. All members of the Telecommunications Carriers Association will continue to work as hard as we possibly can, while competing with each other, towards the further growth of the info-communications industry, with our first priority to improve convenience of the people of Japan, in this fiscal year, too.
