The Korea Association of Robot Industry (KAR) was established in 1999 as the name of Robotics Research Association In Korea. In 2003, another business association of dealing with robot industry was formed as the name of Korea Advanced Intelligent Robot Association. For more efficiency and uniformity on robot policies in Korea, there was a horizontal merger between the two parties and finally KAR was set up on May 2008. Since then, KAR has been the sole business organization representing Korean Robot Industries.
