Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sfax
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax is a public establishment of economic interest, endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy and placed under the supervision of the Ministry in charge of trade.
It is governed by Law No. 2006-75 of November 30, 2006, relating to Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The organization of the CCIS is made up of two structures: The Committee (the elected members) and the administrative staff. Â Â
The committee is made up of 30 members elected by companies in the Sfax region for a period of 5 years.
Stemming from the committee, the office composed of 10 members (a President, 5 Vice-presidents, a Secretary General, a Deputy Secretary General, a Treasurer and a Deputy Treasurer) draws up the projects proposed by the commissions, oversees the execution of decisions taken by the committee and assists the Chairman in his duties.
The administrative staff of the CCIS is governed by a statute approved by decree, following standard internal regulations approved by order of the Minister responsible for trade.
The missions of the CCIS
1. Contribute to promoting the private sector and boosting initiative and investment in the regions.
2. Provide public authorities with all proposals, opinions and information.
3. Contribute to the strengthening of cooperation and partnership relations with foreign countries.
4. Provide training and provide economic information.
5. Provide business services:
- Organize or contribute to the organization of fairs, exhibitions and trade days, symposiums, meetings, congresses, seminars and webinars.
- Issue certificates requested by the manufacturer, trader, craftsman or service provider, intended for use nationally or internationally.
- Communicate economic and commercial information of a general nature concerning the region to companies.
- Undertake any initiative of conciliation, arrangement, arbitration, at the regional, national or international level.
- Provide companies with services to facilitate trade relations in Tunisia and abroad.
- Conclude cooperation and partnership agreements with the major national support and supervision organisations.
- Supervise and assist companies to develop their exports.
- Carry out economic studies.
6. Manage, if necessary, in his constituency a public service within the framework of operating contracts.
7. Maintain the directory of natural and legal persons registered in the commercial register within its territorial district.
