About Chemistry Australia

Chemistry Australia is the pre-eminent national body representing Australia’s $40 billion chemistry industry.

Members of Chemistry Australia are positioned across the entire value chain including manufacturers, importers and distributors, logistics and supply chain partners, raw material suppliers, fabricators, compounders, recyclers, research, academia and service providers to the industry. These businesses range from small family-owned companies to leading national and multinational enterprises.

The member network represents inputs into almost every value chain in Australia, including food and agriculture; advanced manufacturing, medical technologies and pharmaceuticals; and mining equipment, technology and services. This breadth is a feature of the industry, and of the opportunities that a broadly aligned Association can provide for members.

Chemistry Australia works with state and federal governments and departments to help promote conditions for growth, jobs and investment in the industry and the supply chains it enables. This includes representation and consultation on the policy and regulatory settings to enable sustainable growth and support responsible business. Our work plan is driven by the industry-led Strategic Roadmap, which is informed by extensive CSIRO research to map out key industry priorities.

Chemistry Australia also works to increase awareness of the important role of the business of chemistry in our economy and way of life. Evidence of chemistry at work is all around us, from safe drinking water and food storage, to Australia’s polymer currency and innovations in energy generation and storage.
