The European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lao PDR (or ECCIL) had its foundation general assembly on May 3rd, 2011, and its board met on May 9th, the Europe Day, to elect the Chairman, the Vice Chair persons and the Treasurer.
In some aspects ECCIL continues the work of the former French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Laos, but on a broader scale and with a more international membership. The chamber accepts companies and individuals as members which are from or have close ties to the EU. The main purpose of ECCIL is to represent the European business community in Laos and to offer services to members and non-members. Its principal objective is to promote and increase business between the Lao PDR and EU member states for their mutual benefit and for the benefit of its members. This includes, among others, the promotion of investment, raising the profile of the Lao PDR in the European business community and vice versa, and to promote linkages between Lao and European SMEs.
The chamber is managed by an Executive Committee of 11 persons with day-to- day operations managed by an executive director.
