As a business association, GAPMMI works for the interests of members by carrying out programs that benefit members, for example by conducting public advocacy to the government and consumers, conducting programs that are useful for members and fostering networks both locally and internationally that will provide benefits to the members its members.

Since the issuance of Law No. 7 of 1996 concerning Food where it is stated that the Government implements guidance which includes efforts to encourage and direct the participation of associations in the food sector, then on this basis GAPMMI as a business association also has a role to mediate the business world with the government.

GAPMMI will fight for the creation of a conducive business climate for the food and beverage industry through healthy competition among members, and seek the provision of safe food products for the community through enhancing the capabilities of its members in the fields of food safety, processing, health and nutrition
