The notion of delegating the assembly, maintenance and advancement of the nation’s military might to a sovereign entity was first introduced by His Majesty King Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah rest his soul) in 1949 (1368 H). A Royal decree was issued, stipulating the establishment of a weapons and artillery plant, (and) on September 8th, 1950 (1369 H), contract agreements were concluded with two corporations for the supply of the necessary equipment and apparatus to be installed at the premises of the new factory.
