The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce is a membership association of over 650 businesses, organizations, elected officials and community leaders. Chamber members enjoy more than 100 opportunities each year for networking, community involvement and social activities.
The Chamber began as the “Port Tampa Assembly of Businessmen” in 1926. It evolved over the years into the South Gandy Chamber of Commerce and in 1974 became the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce. For more than 90 years, the South Tampa Chamber of Commerce has strived to make our community a better place in which to live, work and play.
In 2017 the South Tampa Chamber became one of less than 20 chambers in the State of Florida to be designated a Certified PLUS Chamber by the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals. This achievement is the culmination of four years or work in the areas of membership, programing, advocacy, leadership and administration, and showcases that our chamber follows the best practices of our industry.
The Chamber has had a special partnership with MacDill Air Force Base for more than 75 years, committing time and resources to support our Military with special programs and initiatives. In 2018 the South Tampa Chamber South Tampa Chamber was recognized as a Three-Star Chamber of Valor by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Three-Star Chamber of Valor Award is Hiring Our Heroes’ highest honor for local and state chambers; it recognizes their demonstrated leadership in connecting companies with talented veteran and military spouse candidates.
