The Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam
Since the promulgation of the Foreign Investment Law at the end of 1987, Vietnam has officially entered a new era of market opening. Faced with a completely unfamiliar investment environment full of uncertain factors, Taiwanese businessmen bravely marched forward (Qian Jin) on this land and opened up new territories to carry out trade and investment business activities. After nearly twenty years. From a completely closed market, Vietnam has gradually embraced the world market, incorporated into the system of international division of labor, and has become an indispensable part of the world economic production system. In addition, Taiwanese businessmen’s operations in Vietnam have also increased year by year, and their investment capital has repeatedly hit new highs. Among Vietnam’s economic groups, they have become “new Chinese businessmen” in the new era.
In June 1994, with the efforts of various parties, Taiwanese businessmen organized the establishment of “Taiwan Business Association in Southern Vietnam” and “Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Northern Vietnam”. Formally transform the Taiwanese businessmen’s activities of chaotic random gatherings into a Taiwanese businessmen’s organization with rules and regulations. In addition to promoting the exchange of investment and management experience among Taiwanese businessmen, the purpose of the founding of the association is to actively participate in Vietnam’s industrial and commercial activities, and strive to become a part of the driving force of Vietnam’s social economy.
In 1994, the North and the South attended the inaugural meeting of the “World Federation of Taiwan Chambers of Commerce”. The “Vietnam-Taiwan Chamber of Commerce Federation” was formed as the window representing Vietnam. Through the activities of the World Chamber of Commerce, it introduced the investment environment of Vietnam to Taiwanese businessmen living around the world, and actively assisted the Vietnamese government in attracting foreign investment.
In October 1997, the Chamber of Commerce was officially issued the license of the Chamber of Commerce by the Vietnamese government. Due to the rapid growth of the members of the Chamber of Commerce, in order to expand participation and services, the Chamber of Commerce decided to set up regional chapters based on the geographical scope to provide comprehensive and effective services nearby. In 1997, it was transformed into branches all over the country. The development of the conference business is also accompanied by the continuous growth of Vietnam’s social economy. The branches are located in the main regions of Vietnam. Up to now, fourteen regional chapters and three professional associations have been established into the organizational structure of the association. They are: Hanoi Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Hai Phong Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Da Nang Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Dong Nai Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Binh Duong Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Vung Tau Branch, Sin Shun Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Ho Chi Minh City Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Lam Dong Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Long An Province Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Xining Province, Taiping Branch, Bac Ninh Branch, Ha Tinh Branch.
In 1994, the Southern Vietnam Taiwanese Business Association (the predecessor of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City) was established. At that time, it was established by a group of early Taiwanese businessmen who came to Vietnam with the assistance of the Ho Chi Minh City Office and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee. Mr. Lin Zhengrong served as the founding president, and in 1998, he applied for the license of the Vietnam-Taiwan Chamber of Commerce Federation, and Mr. Lu Chunlin served as the founding president of the association.
