For the second time he was elected at the APINDO VIII National Conference in Borobudur Hotel, 27-29 March 2008, for the period 2008-2013. Furthermore, at the National Conference in Jakarta, April 9, 2013, he was re-elected by acclamation for the third period, he became the General Chair for the 2013-2018 period. As Chairperson of Apindo, Sofjan tried to bridge the gap by pioneering a bipartite agreement between workers and employers. However, on November 1, 2014, Sofjan resigned from his position as General Chair, because he was appointed as Chairman of the Vice President Expert Team Jusuf Kalla, Sofjan’s position after resigning was on the Apindo Advisory Council.
