New Design for Living, a faith-based recovery program, opens its doors, Aug. 5, 2025, in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Their mission is to guide individuals struggling with addiction into lasting recovery by fostering a transformative relationship with Jesus.

“Those who struggle with addiction don’t just have a drug or alcohol problem,” said Ricky Goldman, Vice President of New Design for Living. “They have a thinking problem.”

New Design for Living offers group classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m., combining the Christians Against Substance Abuse and 12-Step curriculums.

“Everything starts with a thought,” said Goldman. “If you change your thinking, you can change your life.”

Other resources provided by New Design for Living include free meals and individual counseling. They are also partnering with local programs to create a network of alternative services where individuals who are struggling can be referred for additional support.

“The idea is to get to a point where we can take people who have substance abuse issues off the street and help them get sober, get on their feet, get a job, and become independent, so they can be constructive members of society,” said James Thomas, Secretary of New Design for Living.

New Design for Living, located at 963 South Memorial Drive, Suites A & B in Prattville, is hosting an open house, Aug. 1, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. Classes start Aug. 12, 2025.
