The Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed its new Executive Director, Leticia Morales. A lifelong resident of Fort Morgan, Morales has quickly made her presence known by visiting businesses, reconnecting with members, and encouraging new involvement across the community.

Morales was formally introduced at the Chamber’s Off-the-Clock Networking Hour on June 25. Chamber President Gloria Mosqueda described her as “inspirational,” saying, “She knows our region, she listens, and she knows how to get things done.”

Morales works out of the Chamber’s office at 300 Main Street, alongside full time staff member Courtney McFarland. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but appointments are encouraged. Morales is frequently out meeting with business owners and attending community events.

“They can call us at 970-867-6702, stop by, email, or scan the QR code on our website to explore membership tiers and register,” Morales said. “We’ve made it mobile friendly and easy.”

Morales says she is working hard to maintain a personal presence in the community. The Chamber’s Facebook page is regularly updated with upcoming events and member highlights, and an Instagram account is in progress to help reach younger audiences.

Before taking on her new role, Morales worked locally in both insurance and medical billing. After a five year break to raise her children, she returned to the workforce and said the transition was “equal parts thrilling and uncertainty.”

“I’ve always worked, always done something,” she said. “Being at home had its joys, but I missed being involved in the community.”

With encouragement from friends, Morales applied for the Executive Director position and was hired. She didn’t hesitate to dive into the work, immediately visiting businesses and introducing herself. She has found a rhythm that allows her to balance her professional responsibilities with her personal values.”

“I was a little scared,” she said. “But I just threw myself in there, and everyone was awesome. Courtney has been great and has a lot of experience here, so we work together and make it happen.”

Morales is working on visiting current members and reaching out to Fort Morgan’s Hispanic business community, many of whom have long operated without Chamber involvement. She’s visited local bakeries, food trucks, and established businesses to extend invitations. The Chamber Ambassador Team has also been reaching out to members and local businesses.

“Maybe me being here makes it feel more OK for others to step in and be part of it,” she said. “Representation matters, and I want people to see themselves in the Chamber.”

The Chamber’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration, scheduled for Sept. 27, will include a salsa contest and community performances. Morales is working with a committee that includes board members and other volunteers to organize the event.

“It’s all about coming together like one big happy family,” said Morales.

Keep an eye out for Fort Morgan Chamber Ambassador Team members as they visit local businesses and members.
